Game Changer: Mika Lenorr

1 | How and when did you first start playing golf?

My very first day at Five Iron: November 2019

2 | What do you enjoy most about playing? How do you define a great day on the course?

I enjoy making new friends. Every time I’ve stepped foot on a golf course, I connect with someone.

3 | Tell us about your favorite or proudest golf moment:

Probably winning a longest drive contest… but I played with 10 year olds at a birthday party so there’s that!

4 | Have you ever encountered any barriers or had to overcome any adversity in golf?

Being an inexperienced female golfer, I often feel like all eyes are on me. I just stay confident in my abilities and I’ll fake it til I make it! It’s all a mind game.

5 | Tell us about a woman or group of women who inspire you in golf, business, or your personal life:

The gals from Grueter Golf are bad asses and I am truly inspired by their ability to create a chill atmosphere while being bosses at the game.

6 | How would you like to see the golf industry make the game more accessible and enjoyable for women?

Hosting camps in conjunction with schools for young women is a great start. Big sports like basketball and volleyball are accessible in most schools, but young women have to search elsewhere to get involved in golf and often further out for golf lessons and camps.

7 | Any tips to share with women who are new to the game?

Remember you are powerful and capable of doing anything. Have fun and skill will come. If it’s something you enjoy, don’t put too much pressure on yourself trying to be the best. Work at it at your own pace.

8 | Favorite Golfer:

Cheyenne Woods

9 | Favorite brand for on-course golf apparel

Lilly Pulitzer has a dope activewear line and her golf skirts are comfy and fabulous!

10 | Favorite golf gear or accessory:

I carry my Bose mini everywhere!

11 | What’s in your bag?

I don’t currently own my own clubs but soon I’ll have a set from Robin Golf. I’ve used the demos before and they are great for a beginner like myself.

Have fun and don’t put too much pressure on yourself!
