1 | How and when did you first start playing golf?
When my husband and I were dating we would play golf very occasionally and casually, like on vacation or at a driving range where we could rent clubs. We won my first set of clubs as a prize for both of us making a 50-foot putt at an amusement park (hasn’t happened since, at least for me)!
2 | What do you enjoy most about playing? How do you define a great day on the course?
I love being outside and spending time with friends. A great day is one where I can make a few good shots and work on things that are challenging for me (e.g. hitting over a body of water).
3 | Tell us about your favorite or proudest golf moment:
I would say my first real “golf trip” with a group of friends in February 2019 because it was so fun to travel, play a new course, and be able to keep up with the others (even if I had to pick up a few times).
4 | Have you ever encountered any barriers or had to overcome any adversity in golf?
I’m still a bit intimidated by the rules and dress code sometimes.
5 | Tell us about a woman or group of women who inspire you in golf, business, or your personal life:
Five Iron Co-Founder and COO Nora Dunnan. She never lets up (on and off the course) and certainly sets a high standard for women in business!
6 | How would you like to see the golf industry make the game more accessible and enjoyable for women?
Make more space for women (including professionals) to play on weekends or other peak times, even if it means a short-term “loss” or compromise.
7 | Any tips to share with women who are new to the game?
Have fun and shake off the nerves – most people don’t really care about how you’re playing as long as you’re polite and keep up with the pace of play.
